The founder left. The coin stayed.

JACKSON

Two devs made a joke in 2013 and walked away from it. That joke outlived them both. $JACKSON is what happens when the community keeps the ticker alive — no tax, no roadmap, no promises. Just the coin.

About

Two guys built the biggest joke in crypto. Then they left it behind.

In December 2013 Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer launched Dogecoin as a parody. Neither of them stuck around: within about two years both founders had stepped away from the project entirely, leaving it to the people who actually loved it. That is the whole thesis of $JACKSON — the coin never needed its creators.

Billy Markus

Portland · IBM software engineer

Wrote the code for Dogecoin in a few hours by forking Luckycoin, mostly to poke fun at the pile of serious altcoins launching every week.

By 2015 he was done — he handed the project to the community, sold his entire bag for roughly the price of a used Honda Civic, and disappeared from crypto for years.

“I made it in two hours. I didn’t think about it at all.”

Jackson Palmer

Sydney · Adobe product marketing

Came up with the name, bought the domain, and slapped the Shiba Inu on it as a joke about speculative mania. The joke worked far too well.

He stepped away in 2015 too, and years later publicly walked away from the whole industry — never cashing in on the coin that carries his name.

“I never got rich from Dogecoin. That was never the point.”

Want the receipts? The whole timeline — the fork, the Shiba Inu, both founders quietly exiting — is documented for anyone to read.
